Before Your Procedure
Preparing for Your Day at Dalcross

Fasting Instructions
- No food from midnight the night before your procedure.
- Plain water only — up to 2 hours before your admission time.
- No chewing gum, lollies, or lozenges on the morning of surgery.
- Diabetic patients: specific instructions will be given by your surgeon or anaesthetist.

Continue Taking
Blood pressure medications, heart medications, thyroid medications — take with a small sip of water on the morning of surgery unless instructed otherwise.
Blood thinners — discuss with your surgeon
Warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, rivaroxaban, apixaban — do not stop without discussing with your surgeon and GP first.

What to Bring
Documents
- Medicare card
- Private health fund card
- Photo ID
- Completed pre-admission forms
Personal Items
- Comfortable, loose clothing
- Current glasses (if applicable)
- Medications in original packaging
- A support person to take you home
- Sunglasses for post-op comfort
